Team Updates
👋🏽 Meet Our New Team Members

We’re delighted to introduce Tohu Cassidy, who has joined our Mana Ake team as a Kaimahi supporting tamariki and their whānau across our rohe.
In his role, Tohu collaborates with schools, leads group-based interventions, and supports community initiatives that nurture resilience and hauora. He brings a grounded, whānau-centred approach to his mahi. With four years of volunteer experience at the Ōmanaia Playcentre, he learned the power of consistency, care and patience - values he continues to uphold in this kaupapa.
Around Hokianga, Tohu is known as someone whānau trust to take their tamariki out for outdoor activities, a trust he holds dearly.
"Te taonga o tōku ngākau, ko tōku mokopuna e."
The dearest thing in my heart is my little mokopuna.
This line speaks to his why. Our mokopuna are our future, and they truly are the taonga of his heart!

Also joining our team is Clarone Hooper, who co-leads our Employment Placement Services (EPS) alongside his supervisor, Te Arohanoa.
📸 In this photo, Clarone (behind the camera) is pictured with the rōpū from EPS during a digital literacy session, one of the many practical skills he helps participants develop as part of their 12-week haerenga toward employment or further study.
Clarone brings a wealth of hands-on experience across industries including Corrections, construction, security, logistics and customer service. He also has a background in personal training, with qualifications in boxing, kickboxing, powerlifting, and bodybuilding. His passion for helping others grow is woven into every aspect of his mahi, guiding each person to build confidence, resilience, and a pathway toward long-term stability for their whānau.
With a strong focus on real-world readiness, Clarone supports clients through CV writing, interview preparation, job applications, work trials and more, always grounded in his belief that everyone deserves work they enjoy and a future they can be proud of.
Nau mai, haere mai, Clarone. We’re grateful to have your drive and dedication in the EPS space!

📌 Our Team Out in the Community!

Kaumātua Flu Vaccinations ❄️
Last month, our team held a successful flu vaccination outreach at Kaikohe Care Centre, helping 53 residents stay safe and well this winter. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with minimal discomfort and plenty of smiles.
A big mihi to Noeline and Shaneyce for their clear, compassionate education about the flu vaccine.
This kaupapa is part of our ongoing commitment to hauora and preventing flu outbreaks in our communities.

Kahu Taurima Wānanga 🌿
Last month, Kapuatere and Lorna joined the Kahu Taurima team at Mt. Zion Church, bringing energy and aroha as they supported whānau with health checks, immunisations, and a warm welcome.
This time, the workshop focused on harakeke and weaving, a chance for whānau to come together, learn, create, and celebrate the beauty of Mātauranga Māori.
